When you walk through a storm

Hold your head up high

Songwriters: Oscar Hammerstein II / Richard Rodgers
You'll Never Walk Alone lyrics © Concord Music Publishing LLC

When there is a storm do you embrace the challenge or do you try and walk away from it? I think of storms, all kinds of storms, as learning experiences. Therefore, I move with their current and become one with them, I am fluid. I try to create not a barrier but instead, a door for which I can travel through and come out the other side. This journey is filled with the spirit of creativity, imagining, and networking. If you let the door be opened, the other side is transforming and exciting with new ideas and directions that you can travel. It is a different journey.

It takes courage to travel with the storm. It takes strength. It takes the willingness to go with the flow and perhaps change. There may be doubting, but perhaps, just perhaps, you gain a new understanding.

This journey and space of the storm should be filled with trust and safety. Safety because you understand and know yourself. Trust, trust that you will be able to walk through that door and come through the other side knowing that you will grow and learn from the experience. The storm can be a very magical and creative space full of possibilities. The storm space shouldn’t be filled with flight but should be one of transcendence and change. What can emerge from a storm can be the most unique experience that you can have. It is and will be a new and different space for you.

This experience of a storm happens to me whenever I create. It is why I create and love it. It fills me. It is filled with the spirit of creativity and synergism. It is authentic. I believe that the more authentic you are, the more genuine that you are in the expression of your work.
