Showy Versus Simplicity

Featured image: The Jester

Folks in the middle, folks who are not part of the extreme binary ends of a spectrum have qualities that I associate with individualism, independence, and uniqueness. Folks in the middle have a sense of survival, toughness, persistence and belonging. Their beauty, their attractiveness and their uniqueness unfolds from all these qualities. Folks in the middle display their uniqueness in their own way. For example, some are extravagant and show-y. Others have a natural simplicity about them. Neither is better than the other. Both are respected when they are in the middle. All those in the middle are searching for a sense of self through exploration and discovery. They find it as their situations change, they too change.

Precious Creation

Featured image: Free At Last

Everyday when I pick up a paint brush and slowly dip it into the marvelous bright color that I've chosen to work with that day, I return to that feeling of timelessness and freedom and of comfort and peace. This feeling gets lost in the everyday rush of living life. That place has always been there for me. That feeling lies deep within in. It doesn’t always happen instantly. Sometimes I have to call it up as and rest into it as I wait for it to happen. It is always a returning of the feeling of wonder, beauty, comfort, peace and the freedom I so love. For me, it is always what I think life should be like. It is always a returning reminder of what I can be always, whenever. When I watch the colors I choose to work and play with, flow together I am reminded of what life can be, should be - a precious life of creativity and creation.

I Just Love These Things

Featured image: Fishing In The Arctic

I just love these things.
Morning coffee, chilly air, frost on the grass and dried leaves dressing them in wonderful lacy patterns.
Squirrels, scampering in the woods, jays at the feeder.
The sun rising glowing between the now barren trees.
A boat leaving their dock heading out for a morning of solitude and fishing.
Layers of clouds swiftly drifting by.
Blue, Blue sky.
I just love these things.

Snow Globe II

Featured image: Snow Globe

Shake, shake
Tamarack needles
Golden, red, russet
Leaves
Falling. Sky above me
Tree top horizons
Looking up
From my Adirondack
chair
through the glass
to blue forever

One season ends and another begins.
Fall into winter.
Do we always look through the glass
or are we looking from above in
Fall into winter
The space between
glass and reality is the middle
It is anything but grey

Trust For What Is

Featured image: Breakers

As I drink my coffee in the morning I peacefully settle in and I become part of the mystery of nature. It's where I can feel a part of rhythms and tempos of the natural world.

They are the song of the wind , the breaking of the waves on the lake, the smells of last nites cold rain on the fallen brown and golden leaves on the ground.

Each are part of me and I of them, of all things - natural infinite - yes. It is an interconnectedness to the earth and all we have. Every morning, I reconnect to my very humanness and smallness in the very big world around us that involves knowing and not knowing, of sharing and trust for what is.
