A title is part of the work, for me my titles are lyrical, musical, playful. My title speak to the art. If an artwork has a title such as “Untitled” doesn’t that say something about the art and the artist? I believe it does. A title affords me an opportunity to establish a meaning and becomes part of the complexity of the work. It is not a battle between which is more important, the words or the image, it is about the song the work sings including it’s title.
