Being an artist isn’t easy.
Being an artist – for me is doing it all by myself. Being an artist can be lonely. There are no timelines or clocks to punch for artists to follow, only the ones they set for themselves. The only way you get paid is if you create. And you are always on the job. I find myself frequently going into the studio in the middle of the night and painting, or getting up in the morning with coffee and just putting a few touches of color here or there before the sun comes up. And then, I'm able to sit and watch it rising as I finish my coffee.
I you don’t “feel” like creating, well that affects you as an artist because you are the only one who controls if you are an artist or not. No one else can do that for you. You are your own boss, you choose your own projects.
Once you decide to become an artist or before, you need to ask yourself, "What is it that I wish to accomplish as an artist?" Then you need to look around you and ask yourself if you are doing what it takes to become an artist?
