Artist Statement:

Many of my works have the theme, of entrapment, escape, release. Release from the cluster of the herd and freedom to spread your wings and fly. In the piece “Escape” the work is filled with maze like circles one needs to negotiate to find home, or self. And then there is the herd showing folks the way, not necessarily the right way but a way, their way most likely. And then there are those who give up on the maze and the herd and find a way out. They are the ones hanging from ropes or stings precariously. The piece is a combination of watercolor washes and gestural marks made with India ink and acrylic paint.

“Escape” was accepted into the Watercolor Wisconsin 2019 exhibition. It is an honor to be in this exhibition. I apply every year but don’t get in every year and it has been quite a while since I was last in the exhibition. Hence my sense of honor for having this work “Escape” accepted into the 2019 Exhibition.
