Artist statement:

I refer to this piece as both “The Sentinels” and “The Gatekeepers”. They mean keepers of the light, the guardians of the peace, the guardians of treasures and things we hold dear to our hearts. They protect. I believe that our souls, our “selves” are our own sentinels, gatekeeper, or guardian of who we are. This piece represents those concepts for me.
